General forecast: A- few showers or drizzle patches about southern and eastern coasts of the South Island, although these should dear somewhat in the afternoon. A weak southerly change working its way up Jthe east coast of the South Island may reach the south Of the North Island late in |the day. Elsewhere mainly fine. District forecasts: Canterbury: Cloudy with : some drizzle along the coast, but sunny intervals : developing in the afternoon; mainly fine inland , apart from a few afternoon showers.

■Nelson: Moderate northeasterlies; mainly fine, and . warm in the afternoon, but a few showers likely in the ranges. Marlborough: A change to moderate southerlies along the coast in the afternoon bringing some low cloud and drizzle. Buller, Westland: Light winds; cloudy at times, with some showers about the ranges; mild. Outlook: Some showers in the north of the North Island, and morning drizzle patches on eastern coasts; elsewhere mainly fine.
