PA ' Wanganui A retired South Canterbury farmer, Mr R. H. Kerr, has been elected president of the Hospital Boards’ Association. . - .
Mr Kerr succeeds -the Auckland .Hospital Board’s chairman, Dr. F. H. Rutter, who retired yesterdav after four years as president of the association: Mr Kerr was elected after a secret ballot of delegates attending the final day of the association’s annual conference in Wanganui. Three men and a woman contested the presidency. All are chairmen of hospital boards in their own districts; and serve on the association’s executive. Those nominated were Mr Kerr, Mrs D. R. Fraser (Otago), Mr T. C. Grigg (North Canterbury), and Dr! M. J. Nicolson (Wellington). Mr Kerr has served on the] South Canterbury Hospital Board since 1956 and has been its chairman since 1965. For the last six years he has been a member of] the association’s executive. He is also chairman of directors of the Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association, and chairman of directors of the “Timaru; Herald.” I
