Population increase
PA Wellington New Zealand’s population increased by 13.100 in the 1980 calendar year, according to provisional estimates of the Government Statistician (Dr .1. H. Darwin). This brings the total population to an estimated 3.164.000 and reverses the population decrease of the last two years.
In 1979 the population dropped by 500. and for the year to December 31, 1978. there was a similar decrease. New Zealand’s population figures include the Kermadec Islands and Campbell Island, but exclude the populations of j Niue, the Tokelau Islands, ; and the Cook Islands.
