Test team remains unchanged
The New Zealand team for the second test, which will start in Christchurch on March 6, is unchanged. It was not expected that any alteration would be made. If the New Zealand batting failed badly on Monday. it was almost a mass suicide, and it would haw been difficult to banish any one batsman. The selectors will have a problem, however. If they find a spinner is required at Christchurch, they will have a very difficult task in deciding which of the four pace bowlers to omit. They all acquitted themselves well at Wellington, Richard Hadlee had four for 127. Gary Troup five for 81, Martin Snedden three for 94, and Lance Cairns seven for 63, his best test figures.
