Clean air
Sir, — I wonder if M. W. Simes (February 24) has tried an open fire of the wetback type with the fire grate removed. A fire beneath the wet back has several advantages — slower burning, more efficient water heating, the bed of ashes easily rekindled. Moreover a 2ft square piece of metal converts this fireplace into an incinerator. — Yours, etc., A. R. WRIGHT. February 24, 1981.
