Threat to exports
PA Auckland Big export orders for aluminium fittings are threatened by a seven-day “protest stoppage” at the Comalco Extrusion,. Ltd, plant in Mount Wellington. About 110 workers at the plant, all members of the Engineers’ Union, walked off
the job on Wednesday to protest about the breakdown of negotiations for an inhouse award. They voted not to return i until 11 p.m. on February i 25. Comalco’s general manager, Mr P. Williams, said a ; number of export orders : would miss shipping dead- : lines.
