. A determined team effort was justly rewarded last evening when Woolston W.M.C. beat Christchurch Mogal United, 1-0 to win the Rangers Umbro preseason soccer tournament at Rangers Park. * -y.
The only goal of the match was scored by Robbie ' Larter trpm the- penalty ' spot, shortly before half-time, for .a pushing infringement at a corner kick. W oolston generally displayed more purpose than. United, in a match which was often- dominated by two strong, tight aetences.

AVoolstan had 6n« outstanding chance midway through'the second half to sew up the match, shot was blocked, aft ?r fine work by Colin Curry and Mike Millward. Mike Cantin. lan Marshall and Almond all had opportunities for United,;but Marshall later cime closest with a superb drive from 30 metres,- which Craig Thompson, Woplstoh’s young goal-keep-er, brilliantly turned wide. .
