TECHNOLOGIST IN-CHARGE HAEMATOLOGY HUTT HOSPITAL APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED. from suitably qualified personnel to take charge of the Haematology Department in the laboratory at. the Hutt Hospital. The Hutt Hospital serves the Upper and Lower Hutt area, including Wainuiomata,. with a population close to 130.000 and provides special medical units for the lower half of the North Island, including Plastic Surgery and Rheumatology. The Laboratory also provides a service to Elderslea Maternity Hospital and Silverstream Geriatric Hospital, The total beds being serviced is -currently approximately 600. A new Ward block, including a large new laboratory, is due to be opened shortly and will increase the bed size of the hospital by approximately 100 “acute” beds. The laboratory has been commissioned with the most up-to-date equipment, including a Coulter S Plus in the- Haematology Department. This new equipment would provide opportunities for special interests to be developed. The successful applicant will be responsible for the over-all supervision, organisation, and day-to-day running of the Department. At present this is a Grade 2 position and it is expected that it will become Grade 3 with the increased responsibility and workload when the new building is opened.
