Conference seeking promotions officer
PA Hamilton The New Zealand Racing Conference is to appoint a racing promotions officer. This was decided at a meeting of the conference executive in Hamilton last week. The executive committee wants an investigation of ways to loster interest in racing and attendance at race meetings. The position is to be advertised nationally.
The executive committee of the conference also decided to ask the Equine Training Council to commission a report into the training of apprentice jockeys. In addition it was decided by the executive committee that future stipendiary stewards be given the right to conduct random checks of the identification markings of horses at race meetings in New Zealand.
