Ewes sell to $39.50
Coopworths gold up to $39.50 at the first of the strong wool, twotooth. ewe fairs at Tinwald on Monday. The yarding for the sale comprised more than 23,000 Coopworths and Border-Rom-neys, which came forward in excellent order considering the dry conditions experienced in ' MidCanterbury in the last two, months. Only a : small number of : pens contained sheep that were l not up to the top standard, but some of the medium lines were a little mixed in the wool. ' i . .The top lines of sheep sold ex-1 tremely well, the best making to; $39.50 for Coopworths from J. R. > Cooks (Alford.station). i A large gallery followed the sale right to the last pen. Buyers I came from Kelso, in the south, to-Waiau in the north, with sup- ; port from the West Coast and South Canterbury. The sale started on a resonably i sound note, prices, being slightly.| better than expected, and’:as the sale progressed and. particularly, in the last two hours of selling, 1 there was an appreciation of about $2 to $4 .a head/.Vendorj were pleased with the prices.
