Accident victim comfortable
An Ashburton man who was injured in a bulldozer accident on the Port Hills on Tuesday was reported in a fairly comfortable condition in Christchurch Hospital last evening. Mr James Rose, aged 30, had been walking behind the! bulldozer near .the Sign of the Bellbird when the machine’s transmission failed and it ran backwards over his foot. Mr Rose suffered a broken leg and other injuries. I Ambulancemen would ’have had to carry Mr Rose i several kilometres up to the Summit Road and so he was flown out to hospital by a Royal New Zealand Air Force’lroquois helicopter. Only one of the eight children ' injured when a "cherry-picker” bucket hoist collapsed at Queen Elizabeth 111 Park last Friday remains in hospital. She is Bronwyn McManus, aged 14, of’ Hampshire Street, Aranui, who was reported to be in a fairly comfortable condition last evening. The last child to be discharged was Catherine Stewart. aged 12, of Nicholas Drive, Linwood. ■
