Riccarton bid fails
The Riccarton club has again failed to achieve its ambition of gaining premier rugby league status. A deputation from Riccarton met with the Canterbury Rugby League board of control, but the board’s chairman (Mr J. A. Anderson) said yesterday that it had been decided not to promote the club. “Riccarton has won the premier B grade for the last
s two years and deserved -on- ; sideration. However, it was r thought that Riccarton does not yet have enough depth . in its lower and schoolboy ' grades,” Mr Anderson said. The format of the premier . competition will be disi cussed at the annual conferl ence of club officials on Sat- ! urday and approved at the , code’s annual meeting on : March 4.
