Notice is hereby given that by letter cited December 24, 1980, the Minister of Trade and Industry has required the Commerce Commission to inquire, pursuant to lection 104 of the Commerce Act, into the prices of copper and copper based ingots, bars and rods and also these metals in scrap form and report to him on the effects of the present trading arrangements ini eluding any distortions or inequities on the pricing of copper and copper based ingots, bars and rods and also these metals in scrap form occasioned by the embargo on exports. A copy of the full text of the Ministers’ letter is available on request to the Commission. 2. The ' Minister has required the Commission to make such recommendations as it sees fit including any proposals for remedying any undesirable effects identified. ' 3. The Minister ’ has asked that tiiis report be sent to him by June 30, 1981. 4. The Commission will, accordingly, inquire into this matter. At this stage it requests that any persons or organisations, who wish to apply to be a party, in terms of section 14 of the Act. apply to the Executive Officer of the Commission in writing by Friday, February 27, 1981. It would assist the Commis. sion if all applicants explained the nature of their interest. 5. 'lf necessary, 'it is proposed that a party hearing to consider applications received will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 1981, commencing at 10.30 a.m. at the Commission’* hearing room, 6th Floor, Chase NBA House, 163 The Terrace, Wellington. 6. The main hearing will commence at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28,1981, at the address specified in paragraph 5 above. 7.
