M. Butt’s appeal fails
An appeal by the Templeton trainer, Murray Butt, against -the disqualification of Bachelor’s Gold from second place and the suspen-i sion of his horseman’s lj.) cence, following an accident in the Herald Handicap atj the Timaru meeting on De-! cember 9 last, was dis-l allowed at a hearing in Christchurch yesterday. The Tribunal, which comprised Messrs E. A. Lee (chairman), W. G. P. Cuning-" ham and V. C. North, directed that the appeals proceed by way of a rehearing. Mr D. McClelland appeared for the Trotting Conference and Mr B. J. Scotti for Butt. The tribunal directed that Butt’s horseman’s licence be suspended until after Saturday, February 21, and confirmed the disqualification of the horse Bachelor’s Gold.' Butt was ordered to pay $lOO towards the costs of. the prosecution on each charge.
