Saigon purchased for stud duty
Special correspondent Auckland Saigon, which recorded Imin 56.6 s for a r..”.e in the United States, has been purchased for stud duty in New Zealand. The winner of 14 races and $172,510 in stakes, he is by Strike Out from Dreamer’s Sis (By Knight Dream) a sister of Adora’s Dream. Adora’s Dream won $401,000 and is now a successful sire. Saigon will be the first son of Strike Out to stand at stud in New Zealand. The winner of $453,063, Strike Out (Imin 56.65) was
the two-year-old Pacer of the Year in the United States in 1971. He was also the three-year-old Pacer of the Year. As well as Saigon, Dreamer’s Sis has left Brigadier General (Imin 56s as a three-year-old) and Valerian (Imin 57.65). Her first six foals all won.
A bay just under 16 hands, Saigon won his last race in December last year. He is now owned by the Central Standardbred Agency and will stand next season at a stud in Christchurch.
Eventually, he will be transferred to the Yankee Lodge in Matamata.
