J. Mercer delisted
The Stock Exchange Association yesterday removed J. Mercer Industries, Ltd, from the trading list at the request of the company. Only the preference shares of the Christchurch-based stainless steel fabricator are listed, and the chairman of the company (Mr J. J. Mercer) said last evening that the request was a “non-event.”
So few of the preference spares were traded over a year that there seemed to be no benefit in keeping them listed, he said. There were no motives or moves behind the request. The 1980 annual report shows that the company has 79,000 6.25 per cent cumulative preference shares of 200 c each. In addition, there are 120,000, ordinary shares of 200 c each, which are held by family interests, and are unlisted. J. Mercer Industries has more than 100 preference shareholders.
