Doug Mcßeth and Dave Zorn, took the national title, the S'anders Cup, yesterday, in the closest series for 20 years. j The pair put in some classy! runs at Wellington yesterday to i repeat their 1973 performance; when they broke the Auckland! stranglehold and took the Cup; for Hawke's Bay for the first! time. j Over the seven race series the i Hawke’s Bay boat Fleet Scribbler* won three races. got two; seconds and one third. In the closely fought seventh! race Mcßeth steamed up the last; beat, lying in third place to beat; Canterbury in fourth and sew I up the series.
Canterbury and Hawke’s Bay were neck-and-neck. both points wise and on position, until the final seconds of the series when Hawke’s Bay’s fourth placing j gave it the 3.6 point lead it I needed. !
