Bread up 3c loaf
PA Wellington The price of most bread will rise 3c a loaf from February 5, says the Trade and Industry Department. The increase conies after a flour price-rise, which will go up by $52.50 a tonne from February 3.
When the higher-cost flour was stocked by retailers the price of a I.skg pack of flour would rise about 9c, the department said.
The flour price increase would meet part of the Wheat Board increased costs, the main one being the higher price payable for tvheat from the 1981 harvest. The 3c on a loaf of bread would enable bakers only to recover their increased flour costs.
