Grenade misses singer
NZPA Bangkok Six people were killed and 80 wounded when a man hurled a hand grenade into a crowd of about 1000 watching a folk singer performing at a temple fair in southeastern Thailand, a provincial police officer said. Police said that Su» rachai Sombatchareon, a well- known Thai singer, was the target of the killer but escaped death or injury, as the grenade fell some distance from him. The explosion occurred in. Chon Buri province, 80km south-east of Bangkok, the officer said. The attacker, who apparently, had a personal conflict with the singer, was arrested and charged, the police said.
