Chinese food in mini-mall
A new Chinese. restaurant is expected to open in Merivale in March. J <; The Kubla Khan Restaur rant will be upstairs in the mini-mall opposite the Merivale Mall. One of the restuarant’s organisers, Mr A. N. Munro, said that it would be capable of seating 135.
About 25 people will be employed as dining room and kitchen staff. All three chefs will come from Hong Kong. One has been the head chef at the Mirimar Hotel in Hong Kong. An application has been lodged for a full liquor licence. Mr Munro said the restaurant had been built to “exacting specifications” for the licence.
Only Chinese food would be available at the restaurant but a limited number of vegetarian meals would also be cooked.
