Former trotting writer dies
Mr Maurice Gerard, a trotting writer for the 'Christchurch “Star” since 1947 died in Christchurch yesterday, aged 70. Mr Gerard began his career in journalism in -Wellington in 1933 and worked for the . "Southern Cross” and “Trotting Calendar” before joining the “Star” in 1947.
A popular figure in trotting circles Mr Gerard is survived by his wife, Anne, and two children, Peter and Pamela.
