Chance for The Sting

Special correspondent Westport The Sting, runner-up to the Westport Cup winner, Bonnie Lass, on the first day of the meeting, looks set to make amends when he meets a very ordinary field in the Dominion Handicap at Westport today. The Sting has established something of a reputation for himself in recent weeks and after clearing maiJens at Waimate on December 13 has gone on to win at Rangiora and record a very creditable second at Westport. The first-day winner, Pendah Bay, confirmed his class and he looks sei to run another good race today. Best of the others could be True Alan, a disappointing favourite yesterday, and Lea Bay, which has been trailing well but broke in the early running of the Westport Cup something his driver, Jim Curtin, said he had never done before.

The second leg of the T.A.B. double, the Wall Memorial, is full of form and looks a difficult proposition for punters. The West-port-owned and trained Lady Luca led throughout to win well on the first day and other winners to line up are Spry Boy, Wally Scott and Acco.

Lady Luca could well repeat her winning performance but some consideration should be given to Lord Derek, well backed and unlucky yesterday, and Rosewood Charger, which finished well after being held up until the later stages of the race yesterday. Selections—-
