This splendid book has appeared in a cheaper edition which still includes all the illustrations of the original, many of them in colour, and with a kind of Greek good-housekeeping seal of approval as “the best tourist book on Greece.” The award is deserved, Durrell has written a personal guide which attempts to tell readers what they would be glad to know of the past and present of each island, and what they might be sorry to have missed during a visit In text, pictures, and very clear maps the book moves from Corfu to Rhodes in a comprehensive sweep of the lonian and Aegean Seas.
