Sir, — Many individual Christians were persecuted by Hitler’s National Socialist (Nazi) dictatorship for standing up in defence of human rights for all people including the Jews who were slaughtered and oppressed by the racist Nazis. Bjshop Ashby stands up in defence of Black people in South Africa who want the right to a decent life which is de» nied them by the brutal oppression of racist laws imposed by the white minority National Party Government. L. J. Stevens (December 13) in his illogical defence of the right to play sport with Springboks who represent the racist sports policies of the South African dictatorship gibes at Bishop Ashby. Such slurs cast on a sincere Christian combined with a red-scare smokescreen of virulent . anti-Communism reminds one of the propaganda tactics of the racist enemy which our gallant soldiers helped defeat in World War 11.
