Overseas planes for pageant

PA Wellington Ohakea will be “buzzed” by foreign bombers in February. _ American Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force planes are expected to take part in Air Force Day 1981 at Ohakea on February 28. _ It will be the first air display involving overseas planes that the Royal New Zealand Air Force has organised for 16 years and is being held to raise money for the new Air Force Museum at Wigram. Although the involvement of the visiting planes has yet to be finalised, the AirForce expects to. have Fl 5 Eagle and F 4 Phantom planes from the United States and Fill and Mirage planes from Australia. New Zealand before the display for a combined exercise with R.N.Z.A.F. planes. Two R.N.Z.AF aerobatic teams will take part in the display, with ope team comprising five Skyhawks and the other four Airtrainers The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice-Marshal D. E. Jamieson, said , the display would demonstrate many facets of the R.N.Z.A.F.’s operational capabilities. “Through the generosity of many New Zealanders, the Air Force Museum is becoming the centre-point of New Zealand’s military aviation history," he said. ; “The money raised during Air Force Day will contribute towards the development of the museum, ensuring that our Air Force heritage is preserved.”
