These lands are used extensively by the public for recreation and/or for the grazing of livestock and the ban is imposed in the interests of Sa peMlties are provided under the bylaws for failure to observe the ban on shooting and carrying of firearms. The dispensation from the ban (as publicly notified by the Board on 12 April 1980) applies only during the game shooting season to persons are holders and in possession of a current game licence issued by the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society. PROHIBITION ON ACCESS TO McLEANS ISLAND PLANTATIONS NOTICE is hereby given that ’ all persons are prohibited from entering the Board’s McLeans Island plantation areas as ■ specified below, : unless expressly authorised by the undersigned. The prohibition on public access extends over the area of the McLeans Island plantations and all adjoining land within the general limits of 400 metre,-, from the southern boundary of the plantations and all riverbed within 400 metres of the south bank of the Waimakariri River from the McLeans Crossbank to the northerly projection of the upstream boundary of the West Melton Rifle Range. Access tracks to the areas ■ subject to the prohibition have been closed to all traffic and notices warning of the pro h 1 b ill o n have been erected. ACCESS TO WAIMAKARIRI RIVER VLA WEEDONS-ROSS ROAD Public access through the plantations via the WeedonsRoss Road to the Waimakariri River remains in effect. The’ limits of the access are defined by fences and timber debris barriers on either side of the access provided.
