Beach glass
Sir, — Further to the letter from O. Hughes (November 24), Waimairi Beach used to be a clean and safe beach to relax on, but because of vandalism, glass has been broken in various spots. My most frequented spot -was abused by these mindless people as I discovered when receiving a deep laceration to my leg from some half-buried glass (unfortunately before the letter from O. Hughes). If
the people who break these b ttles realised the annoyance of keeping stitches d’-essed and dry and the pulling discomfort of the stitches, perhaps they might refrain from inflicting other people with injuries caused by their stupidity. I warn others (especially children) of the dangers of broken giass and ask vandals to save their energy for knocking bottles to pieces in a stall at a fun fair. — Yours, etc., S. K. DEVERSON. November 25, 1980.
