Treasurer due for a change of luck
By
G. K. YULE
Treasurer has not had the best luck in his recent racing, but this should change when he contests the Geraldine Cup at Orari tomorrow.
I'over 2600 m. He is a dour, i stayer and should run Treasl urer close. I Prince Nugent, Johnny > Balbo, Regal Law and Big • Idea should do best of the ■ others on the front, while a • big run is expected from Dainty Judy, on 20m. Reverie Hanover, a solid ; finisher for third behind : I Light Lord on November 14,
Treasurer’s latest start ' was in the Premier Stakes! pn November 14. He started; f*-om 10m and showed courage in a battling finish to hold third, less than a length from Brase, which started from the front. Treasurer is not meeting a particularly strong field at Orari and it will be surprising if he fails
t|to take a prominent part in’ /the finish. i J Axworthy King recorded 4min 15.4 s for 3200 m when I ’ he won on New Zealand Cup; i day. Then, three days later i he went down to Thurber I Globe over the same dis- ; tance, returning 4min 18s. He had one further start at : the Cup carnival, finishing third to The Power Game!
•,and False Regal, a stylish ■ winner four nights later, should dispute the finish to , the second leg, the Geraldine ; Trust Handicap. i Easter Morn and True i Bay, which also raced with ( distinction at the Cup meetI ing, are others entitled to , consideration.
