A member of the Shirley Area Senior Orchestra, Bryce Whitworth, aged 12, carries his cello on to the bus which has taken the orchestra and the Shirley Intermediate Recorder Ensemble on a three-day tour of South Canterbury. The groups, which comprise pupils from five primary schools (Quinns Road, Banks Avenue, Burwood, Richmond, and Shirley) and one intermediate school (Shirley), will give concerts at schools in Timaru, Waimate, and Temuka.
