Alistair Cooke will continue tomorrow his personal choice for the 8.8. C. from music by popular American songwriters. In tomorrow’s programme he selects from the songs of V i n ' e n t Youmans. Youmans was in the United States Navy in 1917 and showed some of his music to the company’s bandmaster, who happened to be John Philip Sousa. Later a pianist, he then had his first Broadway production in 1921 and in 1933 went on to Hollywood. He contracted T.B. the following year and suffered ill health doing very little writing through to his death 12 years later. Haydu Antal Dorati, the veteran international conductor -,’ho has recently made headlines with his threat of resigning from his post with the Detroit Orchestra in the United States, will feature on the Concert programme tomorrow conducting Haydn at 8 p.m. Dorati conducts the Philharmonia Hungarica in Haydn’s Symphony No. 7 in C (Le Soir). Arts survey The final of the Concert programme’s regional weekly surveys of the visual and performing arts in New Zealand will come tomorrow from Dunedin at 7.30 p.m. Compiled and introduced by Aline Sandilands, the programme will be repeated on Saturday on the Concert programme at 10 a.m.
