Early lead, for Ellesmere
Last year s winner. Ellesmere, has taken an early lead in the inter-sub-association under-23 representative cricket series for the Norman Allan Memorial Trophy. Ellesmere had a commanding first innings win, with bonus points, in a first round match against a weakened Ashley side, which had seven players out because of other commitments Malvern won the other match against Hurunui, which gained the bonus points, and Banks Peninsula had the bye. First round points are: Ellesmere 10. Malvern 8, Hurunui 3, Ashley 1, Banks Peninsula 0.
