General forecast: The southerly airstream over the South Island is expected to give showers to eastern districts, but clearing weather to the West coast. These showers are expected to spread into eastern • districts of the North Island during the morning and some showers are still expected in other northern districts. ! District forecast: Canterbury: Cold, showery weather with fresh southi erly winds.
Nelson: Showers becoming confined to the western ranges; cool southerlies predominating. Marlborough: Fine with strong north-westerlies in exposed places at first; change overnight to cold southerlies with showers. Buller, Westland: Frequent showers, occasionally with hail and some snow on the ranges; showers slowly clearing, with moderate southerly winds prevailing. Outlook: cold, showery in eatem districts.
