Winning bowls skip

Jim Garven (Dillington) and Travis Coup (Kaiapoi) were the winning skips at a bowls tournament staged by the Elmwood club last Sunday for club champion fours last summer. Twentysix clubs were represented. Garven and his team of Ernie Boaz, Charlie Ford and Les Milner, were the winners on the No. 1 green, from Bernie Johns’s Christchurch combination of Philip Melville, Gary Barnes and Dave Langley.

Coup, whose team was Stan Robson, Allan Griffin and George Matthews, was the No. 2 green winner, with Ray Green’s Elmwood entry of Charlie Summers, Ron Wright and Reg Robinson filling second place.
