Tipperary shows promise at trials
Although Tipperary finished only fourth of five runners in the race for three-year-olds at the Addington trials yesterday, he finished particularly well and looks ready to run a bold race in the Orari Chal-i lenge Stake son Saturday. Verona made the pace, but! was run down by Karena and then Kaputone Dreamer, with Tipperary coming from well back for a close fourth. Tipperary looks a speedy sort and will only have to begin cleanly on Saturday to take beating. The winner took 3min 33s for the 2600 m, the last 800 m in Imin 1.65, with the final 400 m in 29.25. Harvey’s Sister, although inclined to pace roughly, fan out the winner of the first heat for two-year-olds, recording 2min 50.8 s for the 2000 m. the last 800 m in Imin 5.85, and the last 400 m in 29.65. Griffe finished a useful second, ahead of Lucas Fire and Logan’s Dream.-, ... El Vista was . untroubled to win the other heat in 2min 52.25, the last 800 m in Imin 3.45, and the last 400 m in 30s. Free Win shaped satisfactorily to take second by a head from Castle Gold, with Grizina next.
| Six pacers qualified in standing start events, while Daytripper recorded 3min 31.3 s in the mobile-start race. The last 800 m of the 2600 m took Imin 7.25. The fastest 2400 m was 3min 15.5 s by Mary . Miller, a member of Jack Litten’s team. Maureen showed promise when she won over 2600 m in 3min 31.25.
