Candidates confirmed
PA Invercargill < Mr N. P. H. Jones (Invercargill) and. Mr W. R. Austin (Awarua) have been confirmed as National Party candidates for their respective electorates \ - in ' next year’s General Election. Mr. Jones and Mr Austin, the sitting members, were the only . names. received when nominations closed at
4 p.m. last Friday. Both members successfully challenged the two Labour members in 1975, and held their seats in 1978. : Nominations for the other Southland electorate, Wallace, have ■ not . yet been called. The sitting member; the Deputy Prime Minister (Mr .Taiboys), has not yet announced whether he will seek re-election.
