Mr Thomas’s money
Parliamentary reporter Arthur Allan Thomas will receive “substantial compensation” from the Government for his imprisonment for the Crewe murders. The Cabinet considered the report of the commission of inquiry into the affair yesterday and decided to follow the commission’s recommendations on compensation. The. amount to be awarded will be that suggested in the report and
this figure will become s public when the report is 1 tabled in Parliament later > this week, probably on - Thursday. > According to the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon), 1 the amount will be exactly that suggested because the > Cabinet does not feel com : - petent to vary the recom- - mendation. > After the report was tabled it “wouldn’t take too > long" for Mr Thomas to - get the money in his hand, 1 Mr Muldoon said.
