Beach glass
Sir, — I hope those who lit their bonfire in front of the Waimairi Surf Club on Thursday, November 20, and proceeded to smash their beer bottles to the tune of a rubbish bag full, in front of the surf club, on the beach and on tracks leading down to the beach, come down later in the year and drown themselves in the same spot. As a warning to anyone using this area, there could be broken glass half buried in the sand as the tide has washed over it. A police beach patrol would be welcome and the sooner the better. — Yours, etc., ’ O. HUGHES. November 21, 1980.
