The holder, Banks Peninsula. and Ellesmere share the lead in the Senior Shield inter-sub-association representative cricket series after the first round. Peninsula and Ellesmere have 10 points each from first innings wins and bonus points against Hurunui and Malvern respectively. The runner-up last year, Ashley, had a bye. The points are Peninsula and Ellesmere 10, Hurunui and Malvern 1, Ashley 0.
