Regal Guy and Trusty Byrd appeal in Oamaru double
By
G. K. YULE
The Mid-Canterbury horses, Regal Guy and Trusty Byrd, will be in demand in the double legs on the first day of the Oamaru Trotting Club’s spring meeting tomorrow. j
Regal Guy finished an unlucky eighth at Addington on October 1 which was the only occasion from six starts that he had failed to weigh in this spring. The smart four-year-old by Regal Yankee is overdue for a win, which should come in this race.
Last time out he showed; i courage when beaten narrowly by Waitao at Adding- ' ton on October 8. That night * the others were well beaten ) and they included a number ’ of rivals for Regal Guy tomorrow. ■ Quiet Win was one of the more talented young pacers
iseen in action late last sea-i son. He has had two un-i placed runs this spring and. should be close to winning! form. Aventureux, Black Jet, Wee Willow, Unique Princess and Daylight Express have all raced well enough lately to suggest they will be prominent at the finish.
I Trusty Byrd, an impres-! Isive winner at Greymouth' on October 13 at his latest start, should carry on on his 'winning way in the W. B. McCone Handicap, a race in which Armbro Play, Bradwin, Errol Hanover and Chiverton should also be prominent.
