‘Most exciting’ in code
NZPA London New Zealand’s touring rugby league side has been labelled the “most exciting” in the code after the Kiwis’ 20-12 win over the British champions, Hull Kingston Rovers, yesterday. Writing in “the Guardian” yesterday, Paul Fitzpatrick said: “There is no mroe exciting side playing rugby league at present than the New Zealanders.”
i The team’s performance was “virile and adventur- : ous” and the Kiwis had [ established dominance by ’ their “great all-round pace, ' adventurous handling and 1 superior imagination and ability.” In “The Times,” Keith ' Macklin wrote that the tour- : ists appeared to be “getting • it right in the nick of time.’’ In spite of the presence in i the side of only five members of last Saturday’s
test team, the Kiwis’ display of fast running, swift passing and perfect backing-up often gave the best team in division one a lesson from their own textbook. ’ “If they could only get more ball from the scrum and concede fewer impetuous penalties they would develop th; characteristics of the present world champion, Australia,”' Macklin wrote.
