Petition progress
Westport reporter Three months of voluntary effort is almost at an end for Mr and Mrs Ron Lymburn, of Westport, as they complete a petition seeking a full 24-hour Commercial and National radio programme for Buller. Mr Lymburn said the ■petition, with about 4000 names, would be delivered to Parliament’s Petitions Committee later this year or early in 1981. So far the husband and wife team have covered most of the Buller district from Karamea in the north, and the effort has cost them $2OO for petrol alone. “We feel it is time Buller had full coverage from both the National and Commercial radio,” said Mr Lymburn. The area should not have-to .wait, until other districts got an improved radio coverage before a second repeater was provided. ■ 1 ,
“If Greymouth; can have dual service so ' should we,” he said.
Only people 18-years and-over had been asked to sign the petition, and most had been happy to do so. “
