Some meat works ‘not economic
PA Oamaru Meat workers must accept that several outdated freezing works in New Zealand are not able to run economically, according to the National director of the Sheep and Cattlemen’s Association* Mr A. D. Dick. “■Die closing of these works is no valid reason for the unions to penalise both workers and producers in 'other parts of the country,” he said. At a recent executive meeting it had been suggested that meat producers be asked to withhold stock from all freezing, works until the Southdown issue was resolved. Many fanners would be prepared to picket works that intended to accept stock before a settlement*
