PA ’ ‘ Wellington Mr T. F.' L. Ward, chairman bf the Hobson County Council, has been appointed acting president of the New Zealand Counties’ Association. Mr Ward is the Northland area representative on the national executl e of the association.
Mr Ward’s appointment became necessary as a result of the recent local-body elections, when the president, Mr A. D. Talbot, of Timaru, who had been chairman of the Strathallan County Council, was defeated. Mr Ward’s appointment was made yesterday by the emergency committee of the association, with a recommendation to the national executive that at its December meeting it confirm Mr Ward’s appointment as president.
