The distinguished English conductor, Sir Charles Groves, working briefly with the young members of the No. 2 orchestra of the Christchurch School of Instrumental Music at the Arts Centre soon after his arrival on Saturday. Sir Charles, who last visited New Zealand four years ago, conducted the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in the Town Hall on Saturday evening. He will conduct the orchestra in two more concerts—in Palmerston North and Wellington.
