PA Wellington A New Zealand publishing company is exporting books written in Italian and Greek—to Australia. The four small books, 1 out this week, are reading* primers . for children aged about five. ‘ •
They are ' published by Price Milburn and printed by Deslandes, both of Wellington. The books are for children whose first language is Italian and Greek. A translation appears only in small print on the back cover.
Most will be sold in Australia for schools in New South Wales and Victoria, according to the publisher. A few will be sold in New Zealand and samples will go to Italy and Greece for possible use -in schools there. The books are in the Instant Reader series, which have already been produced in at least six languages (others may have been pirated), including Maori.
They have full-colour photographs with a- single sentence on each page, such as “Mummy is cooking,” and '“Mummy is driving.”., . ' .
