Metrication
. Sir, — I was most interested to read (“The Press,” October 15) that in the U.K. metrication is meeting strong opposition. I understand that this is also the case in Japan. This is good news as the change to metrication in this country was, to say the least, bad legislation. It cost the taxpayer countless thousands, caused untold inconvenience and the benefit to the country has been precisely nil. I understand that there is now a move to oppose the system in this country. I can only, hope the move gets the support it deserves. — Yours, etc P. NEWTON. Rangiora, October 17, 1980.
