Mrs Daphne Jameson, of Christchurch, has been appointed women’s manager of I the New Zealand track and field tegm which will contest the Pacific Conference Games at Queen Elizabeth II Park on January 31 and February'L An active coach for many years, Mrs Jameson js an executive member of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Coaches’ Association. She is also a member of the Canterbury' Athletic Centre executive,'and is the centre’s representative on the executive "of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association.
Mr - Valdemars Briedis, a former Olympic coach, has been ■ named one of two assistant coaches with the team. At his own request, he was not considered for the position of chief .coach, a position. which also carries managerial responsibilities. Mr Sam Johnson, of Auckland, is ,the assistant man-ager-coach. The second assistant coach is the former Commonwealth and Olympic Games triple jumper, Mr Dave Norris, of Auckland
