PetroCorp was established as a limited liability company to assume the commercial activities of the government relating to the search for indigenous hydro-carbons and the use of known gas resources. To this end PetroChem was established to own the ammonia/urea plant to be built at Kapuni and to market urea on domestic and international markets. The production capacity of the plant is 155,000 tonnes of granular urea per annum and production is scheduled to start in late 1982. The General Manager will be responsible for the profitable operation and administration of the company. He will initiate and develop long range corporate plans for Board consideration end ensure implementation: negotiation with customers, securing' markets, and the management of a small but specialised team are key activities. The General Manager will not be directly responsible for production, which will be undertaken by the Natural Gas Corporation (a fellow subsidiary) which owns and operates a Gas Treatment facility adjacent to the ammonia/urea .plant site. We are seeking, candidates with proven senior management experience in the administration of a capital Intensive enterprise. Some direct experience in the petrochemical industry or in the marketing of bulk production would be an advantage. The position will be located initially In Wellington but the appointee will eventually be required to relocate to New Plymouth.
