Gebbies Classic race
The Gebbies Classic 30kj" hill race will mark the start of the Canterbury Road Running Committee’s summer season of events tomorrow.
Last year more than 60 runners took part, including several women. Brenton Joyce (St Martins) broke the open record with a . time of Ihr 39mins 30secs, while Donna Cawkill (New Brighton) broke . the women’s
record with a time' of 2:08:39,
The committee’s president (Mr S. Young) said that entries for the race would be taken on the day and that it would be open to non-regis-tered runners as well as regs istered runners. The race starts from the Sign of the Kiwi at 9 a.m. and follows a route through Teddington,. up Gebbies Pass and back to the start, vid the Sign of the Bellbird,
