West Coast farms

. Sir, — It alarms me that your columnist, Derrick Rooney (September 27) could have the audacity to run down the farms of Westland without first visiting more farming areas and meeting more farmers there. As a farmer from Canterbury, now farming at Te ’Taho, I feel that the farmers here are more go-, ahead than many of their counterparts I know in Canterbury. I think Mr Rooney -owes the fanners .of , Westland an apology. T,' would be willing- to show .. Mr Rooney several high- • standard farms. jn my area alone and introduce him to many experienced farmers producing much for our overseas trade.- — Yours, etc i R. G. ORCHARD, Te Taho, Hokitika. October 2, 1980.
